This isn't your typical role. We're looking for a scrappy ex-founder who can do whatever needs doing - sales, strategy, ops, growth, customer success.
Who you are: You're a former founder or early-stage operator who's done it all before. You've worn every hat, closed deals you had no business closing, and built processes out of chaos.
You might be:
An ex-founder whose startup didn't work out, but you learned more in 2 years than most learn in 10
An early employee at a startup who ended up running half the company
A VC escapee who built something of your own and now wants to do it again
What makes you perfect for this role:
Founder DNA: You've built something from nothing. You know what it feels like when everything is on fire and you success anyway
Commercial instincts: You can sell. Whether it's closing a deal, negotiating a partnership, or convincing a candidate to join
Operational rigour: You can build systems that scale, but you won't over-engineer. You know the difference between "good enough for now" and "tech debt we'll regret."
Strategic clarity: You can zoom out to see where the business needs to go, then zoom in to execute the unsexy work that gets us there.
Speed obsession: You move fast by default. You'd rather make 10 decisions and be wrong twice than deliberate endlessly.
Low ego, high ownership: Nothing is beneath you. You'll jump on a support ticket, write a blog post, build a spreadsheet model, or hop on a sales call.
AI-native: You use AI tools daily to move faster. You're excited about what AI means for how small teams can punch above their weight.
What you'll do:
Own critical business functions that don't have a home yet and figure out what "good" looks like
Support sales and partnerships: help close deals, build collateral, refine positioning
Work directly with founders to prioritise ruthlessly and execute on the highest-leverage opportunities
How we work at Lightdash:
We build in public. Open source means moving fast with shared context.
We challenge problems, not people. No blame, just solutions.
We're highly collaborative. Independent, but we win as a team (and with our community).
We bias hard toward impact. We'd rather ship the wrong thing quickly and learn, than waste weeks polishing what nobody needs.
